Vertigoes should be hot keyed and used to bomb key enemy structures such as Tech Labs or for weakening base defenses. Generally prioritize Structures over Units - but feel free to use them against heavy units such as Mammoth / Predators.
As your army advances onto your enemy's base, its imperative that you maintain pressure on your opponent, one way to do this is to bomb Tech Centers with Vertigoes to prevent them from using T3 Units against you
If you wish for some more fineness tactics. Using EMP Coils to disable units / buildings. This will give you a huge advantage and if played correctly, can allow a smaller force to beat a larger one.
Proper use of way pointing and planning mode can allow you to conduct the escort and attacking with good efficiency.

Suggestion 2 - Pincer Attack

This tactic is very situational and very micro intensive so it will not really be suited for all out war or situations where play is on the Macro Level (having to concentrate on many different points of the map at once).
This tactic is based off the classic Bottleneck Approach from real life and thus utilizes 2 / 3 small armies to force and corner an opponent. When pulled off well a much smaller army can crush a very large one. Since that level of intensiveness is not possible in CNC 3. The army's will be substantially bigger than they would be in real life.
This tactic has a heavy emphasis on creating confusion on your enemy and thus the Fanatics, Raiders and Rocket Militia should be used to that purpose. For example sending fanatics from 3 different directions make it impossible for your enemy to retreat (many choose to reverse move and fire on fanatics).
